Hi again. The warmer weather is back, the days are now lovely & warm. Its just at night that we feel the cold.On your way to Cairns, you will prob stick to the Bruce Hwy & not venture into Bundy. We are about 40klm towards the coast from it,thus my words on cane trains would be irrelavent.
Do have lots of cane toads to watch for also lol
Take care

Bluey, thanks for the info. My goodness that looks like being a wonderful trip, just the kind of thing Anne and I would love to do in our new motorhome - one day!
Did you say that you have your own tree in Daintree? How did that happen?
I look forward to having the procedure on 2nd September so that I can get my life back together again. I'm really sick of things the way they are. I guess it gives me something to aim for - a full recovery.

Hi Bluey! I'm slowly catching up on Sudoku after our long trip through Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, & Cambodia. Thank you for visiting my page after all these years to wish me a happy birthday on Dec. 4. I DID have a wonderful day which began when we watched the sun rise at Angkor Wat in Cambodia - unforgettable! I have posted only one
picture of our trip on my page so far, but I will try to whittle down the thousands of pictures we took to just our favorites & post them on Flickr as soon as I can find time. Meanwhile, Rob & I would like to wish you & your family a very Merry Christmas & Happy New Year. I remember you very well from my early days on Sudoku in 2005. Back then I used to take notes to help me remember things, & I still have them! So now I can sound smart & ask you how your nephew Miles (who was hit by a truck) is doing? Do he & his wife Sharmaine have any children yet? What are your children doing these days? Please take care & come post on Easy some day. It would be nice to see you there again. XO

Merry Christmas Bluey,

Wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful Christmas this year

for your Greetings on my page . I too have a particular fondness for some of us who've been chatting for a few years. A bit of history goes a long way.

I guess that while we swelter in Darwin you will probably have osme pretty warm weather on the coast. I do think that Wollongong set between that Escarpment and the sea is a really pretty city - despite Port Kembla. I actually was taken through Port Kembla when I was 13 or 14 by my brother who worked there at the time.

Whatever you get up to and where ever you gather, may it be a lovely celebration for you.

Here’s the traditional

LEMON CORDIAL
Ingredients:
Juice of 7 large lemons
Grated rind of 5 large lemons
1 kg sugar
1.25 litres of water
25g citric acid
Method:
1.In a large pan, boil up sugar, water, grated peel and citric acid.
2.Take off and add juice, If preferred, this may be strained.
3.Bottle whilst still hot into clean, sterilised (in oven) bottles

Mix it with gin and soda if you want an alcoholic drink. These days I prefer just straight soda.

May 2009 be a healthy, peaceful, joyful, hopeful, satisfying year for you

Thanks, bluey. I really appreciate the note about 4 seasons. I keep forgetting how altitude can affect the climate. When I look at maps of Australia they're flat, you know? That's why I love the photos like you have posted -- and the notes. As for spring and autumn color, glad you all can enjoy it. And glad you're not suffering a deep winter like we are.

bluey, you're helping me out again. Your comment about trunk calling was food for thought, so I did a little more googling. I came across a message board (for a different group) in which a person remarked: "I remember as a wee lad when we had to book a trunk call or an international call. The operator would call you at the requested time." This tells me that the long distance used the trunk lines as you describe, and that the term trunk must have become synonymous with long distance because to make a long distance call one would have to wait one's turn on the trunk line system. That satisfies me. Thanks again, bluey!

Hi Bluey,
Thanks for your kind comment on my pix.
I took a look at your pix... you have a very attractive family.
I really like the pic of the Three Sisters. Is that located in the Blue Mountains? We missed that on our tour of NZ and Oz.
Thanks again,
Hal

Bluey, I hope you have a wonderful birthday full of good friends and loving family members! Enjoy our day and make some great new memories. Congratulations to your daughter as well, graduating from college is quite an accomplishment! My oldest is just finishing her first year, I can't believe how quick it went! Oh well I would have to say that about life in general.

Take care and be well,
Aimee :)
