Li'l Frisky would be deeelighted to go motoring with Fred through the English countryside. A stop at a country pub for pasties and a pint of the innkeeper's finest bitter would make for a perfect finish.

The fellow was holding down the fort with his son, both of them outdoorsmen in real life. They both hunt with muzzle loaders in real life. As its been said, they talk the talk and walk the walk.

Hi, André:
Thank you for asking after my mom. Unfortunately, she has another surgery on April 24th--fractured her thigh bone! No wonder her recovery from knee replacement has been so slow...

Hi Andre, Harrys's surgery went well. Was back to the doc's yesterday for a check up, toe looked good. He goes back in 12 days to have stitches removed. Only time will tell if the surgery worked.

André, so much for your birthday wishes, my family did make my day very special.
I apologise for the tardiness of this reply, hopefully life will settle down for a bit so I can stop and smell the roses.

Hi Andre
Thanks for asking about me. I am pleased to tell you that I started a new job on Monday about 50 minutes drive south in Cairns. It's with an engineering company but they do a lot of work on the mines. In fact in about 2 weeks I will be about 3500 kilometers south involved in a shutdown on a Uranium mine. Never been on one of those before.
I'm pleased to get the job as things seem to be getting harder and more scarce, however since I took the job there have been 3 others offered. Still happy to take this one though.
Once again thanks for thinking of me and believe me I did appreciate your concern.
For that you deserve an extra hug as well as an extra splash of bolly.
Cheers x

Hi Andre
Thanks for the congratulations but I think I better clear up the thing with the shut down. It's only a shut down of the plant so major maintenance can be carried out. Should be interesting to see the mine though as it is the biggest uranium deposit on the earth. Let you know when I get back home in about 2 weeks.
Cheers, glass of bubbles with chocolate.

Andre,
Thanks for the birthday wishes, this is a big one for me (50)so I have already told my family that I will be celebrating for the whole month, or at least until my daughter's birthday which is on 5/28, I can hardly believe that I have been on this Earth for 50 years, I plan on making the next 50 (or so) very memorable for all those around me!

Take care and be well,
Aimee :)

Thank you for remembering Andre, very sweet of you. Sunday will be harder than ever as my M-I-L died just this week, I will miss her very much as well. The good news just around the corner is my first grandchild is due any day now and I'm thinking Sunday would be perfect, fingers crossed!

Hi André! Gee, I never knew you were a mathematical wizard! What a mind you have - must be well developed on BOTH sides of your brain. It's rare to find people who are equally gifted in both imaginative & scientific abilities as you are. I guess Rayray is another one. I enjoy all your "Thoughts for the Day", but I really loved the one that you posted just the other day. It was about gathering good days like grapes & turning them into wine. We are going to have a tile mural on the wall above the cooktop in our new kitchen. It is a scene with grapes & a bottle of wine in the foreground with a vineyard in the background. That quote fits so perfectly with that scene I may even have it engraved on a little plaque to hang somewhere near the mural. Could you tell me where you found the quote & who said it? I would love to know. Thanks. Have a good week.

Thank you André!!! I plan to eat out!! Told hubby that it was against the law to have to cook on your birthday!! Other than that it's business as usual (watching my kids take their state standards tests - 6 days of it!)
In three years I do intend to visit England! So how about a tea together at some tea shop?

Andre, thanks for visiting my little bit of Sudokuland. The penguin is best found by doing a search on google for "Linux Penguin image". You will find a few. Has your son played Club Penguin (Google will find it for you)?? My kids used to love it. Love the TFTD and all that you do for the site (and have been doing for a while). Gus

Hi Andre...no grandchild yet! She's officially 5 days overdue. Have just spoken to her (they live in Dubai) and the Dr wants to induce on Monday but my daughter wants the baby to come when it's ready! She goes to the hospital every day for the baby to be monitored and all is still OK. Meanwhile, I'm here in a high state of nervousness! I will let you know. xx

Hi André. I saw your request on Easy a few minutes ago and for what it is worth, I think the greatest British TV comedy show of all time was Monty Python's Flying Circus. The humour and wit was amazing, and from it (and my reading of Punch magazine) I learned to appreciate the tongue-in-cheek type (almost sarcastic) humour that I think I have today. I also feel that series was instrumental in the evolution of many other shows that followed behind it, including many comedy shows that evolved here in Canada. We picked up some BBC shows here, and I never failed to watch Flying Circus when it was shown. John Cleese, Eric Idle and the rest were brilliant and watching them always made me feel almost giddy with laughter. I can't speak to a show that failed, as generally if I didn't like something after the first one or two shows I didn't watch it again.

Andre (sorry no accent - on my laptop) - agree with saylz about 'Yes Minister' - another that comes to mind is 'The Office' - anyone who has worked in an office has struck a character like David - and also the other Ricky Gervais one 'Extras' - a brilliant take on behind the scenes in the film/tv industry. Then there's always 'Blackadder'!
I can't think of any bad UK TV shows, love the way they think.

André, how about 'That Was The Week That Was'.
I think it aired in the UK in the early 60's.
It was a satire of current events, and from what I remember, was hugely popular. I saw a PBS special here in the States on one of the episodes. It featured "What is a Mum?" If I remember correctly, it was describing mothers with ad slogans. Very clever.
I agree with CynB, I would much rather watch British TV shows than most of the stuff we get here. I am a British comedy fanatic!

Don't know how many Aussie shows made it to Britain - Mavis Brampton Show, My Name's McGoolie - What's Yours?, Paul Hogan Show. Loved Some Mother's Do 'Ave 'Em.

I have a memory of my parents roaring with laughter in the mid-60's watching a British comedy show that had David Frost, Peter Cook and Dudley Moore. There was a ditty about a village "Muchbinding in the Marsh".
That was it - That Was the Week That Was!

Hi Andre, things are going good here. Harry's toe is doing well, the stitches have been removed, he has a big scar. The bottom has healed and so far everything looks good. Only time will tell if that was the problem.
We have been so busy here lately, I have had some injections for the pain in my back. Had one yesterday, so far so good, again only time will tell. Take care, will try to keep you updated more often.

Hi André, my gorgeous but very stubborn grandson arrived in the early hours of Friday after an 18 hour labour. He is a little beauty and he and his parents are doing well. They have called him Oliver and I have to wait 3 weeks until I can cuddle him in Dubai!!! How will I ever manage to wait that long???
