Hi Kathy! Yes, we really enjoyed NZ. We started in Auckland and visited Waiheke Island, where we had a wonderful lunch at Stoney Ridge winery. We went to Kelly Tarlton's Antarctic Experience and thought the penguins were adorable; went on a dolphin excursion too. Then we rented a car and headed north to the Bay of Islands; we stayed 2 nights in Paihia and drove up to Cape Reinga, where it teemed rain and the fog was so thick we could barely see the lighthouse. We went to Rotorua (spa, geothermal park, hangi feast) then Napier (beautiful Art Deco) then Wellington (Botannical Gardens, great meal at the Boulcott Bistro). Turned the car in and ferried to Blenheim; picked up another car and toured wineries (bliss!), hiked a small section of the Queen Charlotte Track before going to Hanmer Springs, where we horse trekked into the high country with the sheep. In Mount Cook it rained and snowed, so our glacier excursion was canceled but the sky cleared enough for us to go on a stargazing expedition and we saw Jupiter with her four moons--awesome. We loved Queenstown and rode the gondola then luged down; our prime disappointment was that our flight to Milford Sound was canceled because of high winds (I cried!) so we didn't get there. Still, some fabulous photos and wonderful memories; we met some of the nicest people (you're right, the south) and gawked at the scenery around every corner. A special place and we consider ourselves so lucky! Hope all is well with you and those you love--perhaps you've got some travel plans in the works?

Kathy! You are going to the one place I would most like to visit. You should PM Linda from Pioneer. She wrote a wonderful log of her trip a few years back and it has gorgeous pictures and great advice. I've kept it for a reference when I can go on that trip. Enjoy!!

Hello Kathy, lovely to hear from you! I am not much of a Facebooker, and had to ask my hubby how to find the Sudoku page - how galling... guess I had better spend some time there and learn a bit.
Miles is very well, and he and Sharmaine have just a few weeks ago had their first son after 2 little girls, so are very pleased with life! Thank you for asking.

I'm so glad you've been hooking up with Linda. I thought her particular cruise sounded the best...smaller ship with lots of exploring.
I hope your birthday was grand...and I'm not far behind you at 57! If we ever get our house done, I will be able to start saving money for that cruise!
