kathy.... I noticed on Easy that you're going to Central America. Which country (s)??? I hope Costa Rica is one of them. I used to live there and miss it something fierce. In January, you'll be in the dry season, so you'll miss a lot of the flowers. It's probably changed a lot since I was there, though. I haven't been there in 32 years .

Thanks for the birthday wishes Kathy. I hope you had a great Christmas, I have not been on much, I got married on the 13th of December so it has been a bit hectic. I forgot to mention this to people. Ha ha ha.

I vividly remember my Tetanus shot before going there. It was a bad batch of vaccine, and I got a mildish case of tetanus from it. It started with my arms stiffening, then the rest of me. It was really painful. Whenever I have to have a Tetanus shot now, I stay under observation for several hours afterwards, in case.

Thanks, too, for your kind words about my photos. My husband and I just got back from a trip to Antarctica - hopefully I'll get some pictures from the trip posted soon.

Hi Kathy, thanks for your comments on my photos of Egypt. I just looked through yours again, funny we have a lot of the same pictures -lol. Loved your photos of Peru too.
The weather was perfect for the entire trip except for a lot of smog around Cairo on many of the days we were there. Fortunately when we were at Giza the weather was good -sunny and no wind.
I loved Egypt and would go back tomorrow if I could, I don't know how many times I've flicked through my photos - I haven't got bored with looking at them yet! I didn't get a photo with Wagdy and I'm really sorry about that -we were supposed to meet again but he needed to see a doctor about his eye surgery -unfortunate timing.
Happy New Year to you and your family I hope is a great year for you

Very nice "Unforgetable" video. Great graphics and blending and very poignant. Love how the player piano plays as if Nat is there in spirit with Natalie.

I had nothing to do with the animation, however when I saw it on the 31st (when the video was taken), I said that the only award possible for this float was animation. When I first saw it on the 22nd, I was not impressed. I could see that it was going to be a lot of dry work coverage (strawflowers, leaves, etc.) Even though there were 1,500 roses on the float it did not have the fluff that whole flowers do as coverage.

Once I saw the animation, I figured, they only put flowers on things that didn't move. That was why there were so few flowers - so much moved. Over the weekend they had it on display at the park on a freeway overpass. (it is decorated under the freeway). From there it goes into "deconstruction" and taken apart, with everything from flower vials to chasis parts cleaned up and put away for next year. The new 2010 float design contest is on now & their choices for submission will be made first of Feb. Once approved by the Tournament, work begins on the 2010 float - along with the fundraising. This is a total volunteer "self-built" effort. There are only 6 Self-built floats in the parade, all the rest are proffessionally designed and built (most in float barns - while LCF's is built out in the elements and decorated under a bridge - subject to wind & cold).

Hello Kathy - a belated very Happy New Year to you and your loved ones.
Thank you for your good wishes and sorry I've not extended mine sooner but I had my family staying over Christmas and the New Year and it didn't leave me much time to find my computer under the debris.
It was wonderful as it was the first time all seven of my grandchildren have been together so it was very special for me.
Take care and best wishes for 2009.

Kathy, you are so right, there is another angel in heaven...and it wont be long till she's got the head position! Just before Mum passed, she was well enough to be brought home for the afternoon. She hadn't been sitting in her chair for five minutes before she was directing how to fix whatever she deemed out of place! It puts a smile on my face to think of her that day. I will never forget her.

Thanks Kathy for bringing that update for Rayray to SA7, I hadn't yet got over to easy to read so I really appreciate the news.
It seems to be de rigueur to get MRSA after any surgery these days doesn't it. I know my sister did and was house bound for weeks after with daily visits by the home nurses for intravenous antibiotics. These 'superbugs' are so worrying.

HI, Kathy! Thank you SOO much for the update on Rayray! I think most of us on the site miss him and hope for a speedier and less eventful recovery!
