Hang in there, Jamie...keeping good thoughts for your speedy recovery. PT is so brutal...been through it several times for my back.

First the shoulder now the knee - what next? Congratulation on your 25th Anniversary.

PT - is a pain - but oh, so important. My father was a problem with following directions and had nothing but problems - my mom still does her exercises (of course she has fallen several times in the last few years and now at 86 isn't recovering as quickly). You being a young whipper snapper, should do just fine with a little hard work called PT.

PS - Gus is HOT!

Hi Jamie, I used good old pen and paper with algebra and fractions. Like you I love a good puzzle, but my skills are at a lower level - I can't even remember how to work matrices!! I don't know if I ever knew how to use them to solve problems like that one. It doesn't stop me from enjoying the puzzles, though I always tell myself that I will pull out all my old books one day and freshen up my skills.

Hope you and Gus made it through Ike okay! I'm so glad we don't live closer to the coast!

Hi jamie. My application is in background check mode. I talked to the superintendent today and he said if I don't hear something by next Tues, to call him back. They want to hire me (part time obviously) but are waiting on that. I told him if I don't hear by Tues one way or the other that I would probably just limit my "helping" to my kids classes for the reason you mentioned!

Hi Jamie. I have known of my spelling affliction for many years now. That's why I usually stick with the numbers. I can line them up a whole lot better than the letters!! No offense or hard feelings taken! Besides, life is much more fun if you can laugh at yourself on occasion!

jamie - your comment about "joining the seals" made me remember how Little Plum asked me recently if I didn't have one of those skin tight unitard bathing suits like the Olympic athletes wore. It instantly made me think of myself looking much like any bathing beauty in today's photo and I hastily assured her that no, I didn't own such a suit!

Mr Reid, the janitor of an apartment block, notices that the boiler pressure is rising, and will shortly explode.
He phones two of the residents, tells them the news, asks them to do the same and phone just two more people, and then get out of the building.
Assume that each of the residents is in, and answers the phone immediately.
If each phone call takes 30 seconds, and it takes each person 90 seconds to get out of the building, how long will it take to empty all 375 apartments?
