Thanks Gail for your interest in my Mum's birthday. It went well, or as well as a birthday party can go in a residential care centre. But the staff excelled themselves, set up a table for us away from everyone else and Mum thoroughly enjoyed being made a fuss of by some of her family. I posted more in the easy comments today.

Gail - I think the neighborhood is pretty safe! I thought I might just carry a picture around and beg for handouts, though?

G'day Gail, thanks for your concern. I'm OK now but I gave myself a pretty good test this morning by cutting the hedges - mistake! But I seem to have survived well. I recovered after a shower, meal and a bit of a lie down, I might add, in case you are concerned, that I do 'Heart Moves', an aerobic exercise programme designed by the National Heart Foundation, three times a week. So this morning's 'stupidity' was nothing more than a vigorous workout - but using some different muscles. Not a Mack truck, more like a ute - and I walked away from it.

Many thanks for your greetings. I shall be having a 'me' day tomorrow. 9 Holes of golf followed by lunch with the girls at the club and then a champagne evening at home(so neither Steve not I need to drive) watching Doc Martin ( yes I'm that old)
Bubbles and choc-mud cake methinks the diet will need to return in November!!! But thank you

Hi Gail, thanks for the visit! I am well, but a few days ago I could not say the same. Thursday morning I woke up very sic, but went to the doctor and got penicillin - what a difference! After taking it for just one day, I was feeling much better! Which is good, because I was/am in a play (community theatre) and Friday was opening night! Thank God for drugs! (Bet you weren't expecting such a detailed answer to "how are you"!)

Hi Gail, Thank you for asking about Laura. I had her this time last week and she had vomiting and Temperature so had us worried but then I got it two days later so decided it did not have anything to do with ulcers. I have her again tonight. She has just gone to sleep and she has eaten better than I have seen her for awhile. She is on Acimax and mylanta so that is helping. All tests have come back negative as to the cause of the ulcers. Sharon gets very down when Laura keeps waking in the night and then Sharon has to go to school (teacher) but as the medication kicks in and she starts eating more she should sleep better as well. She is asleep in my bed so looks like I am back to the waterbed which will not help my back. Still some problems there but at least I can walk a bit better and walked around the shops for awhile today after I had been to see Death at a Funeral.
How is your daughter's driving going? Isn't it nice to be relieved of some of the Taxi duties?

How goes it, Gail? Holmes sends you a big nuzzle for the sardine. We're in the midst of sorting my mother's things now, with the usual short-tempered snits that go along with it. I've insisted on a weekend off since hubby and I work and we need a chance to have some kind of life! Back at it the following weekend ... but we're not altogether stupid: we've booked ourselves a ski trip to Banff for December; something to look forward to! Hope your week is full of giggles and fun.

Very good advice Gail. We are, indeed, intending to stay home for the forseeable future, except perhaps to go up and see the grandkids, but that's just part of life. I'll get some trip pictures up as soon as I can.

What a welcoming person you are. I love looking at your pictures. I will try to figure out how to post pics of my flowers and maybe we can compare notes? Have you ever been to Kansas? I grow extensive flower gardens, fruit trees, tropicals, water plants, roses, grasses and other ornamentals in spite of our weather extremes. Your garden designs are wonderful.

You know Gail I get on with everyone but these neighbors. They had 5 children the oldest on drugs, the next had a thing called oppositional defiance disorder, they both had different fathers. She had a third child to a different man, who she ended up marrying, he was his first born and could do no wrong, he was the problem. The forth had Asbergers which is a form of Autism. The last was normal and the only girl. But the third boy was the biggest bully and he worked out if he told his dad my son did something his father would then come and bully him. My son would not go out to play for about a year and half. Even when he played in the back yard, this man would come onto my property and threaten him. I ended up having to get an intervention order on him after he tried to get into the house while I had a babysitter here. My sons not perfect but if you have a problem see me, don't bully the child. And now they have moved past you to Warburton. Yay. And you couldn't leave anything out or they would steel it. Sorry for the epic tale.

Gail,
I got your email today. Thank you for your complements on my quilt. I have made some quilts for others and at one point had a web site but I didn't have time with my other work to keep it up.
The flower is a peony. I love to garden.
As for the puzzle pages, I found some but I couldnt' do the puzzles for some reason. Maybe my computer wouldn't support it? I don't know. I was disappointed. Anyway, thanks.

Hi Gail
I'm Australian, but my husband is American and our kids were born in California. We're living in NSW now - my old haunts. My eldest was telling me yesterday that kids were asking her to say pearl and mustard so they could hear her accent....

I got it! You tricky devil you. Thanks for the advice though, I'll know next time.
Anne and I are both well, thank you. And yes, the thought of getting a man in to clip the hedges is profoundly sensible. Actually, I did get someone in last year when I was recovering from my open-heart surgery. There was no good reason why I shouldn't have done it again this time - except perhaps stubborn male pride with a bit of stupidity thrown in for good measure. We never stop learning, do we - and sometimes we learn the same lessons over and over again? One day....

You know Gail, I thought it was a heartburn too. But when it got worse I noticed that it was a little too high for that and got myself to the emergency room. I guess I must have looked ghastly because the triage nurse whipped me into a bed quickly. After the blood test and the nitroglycerine, I felt much better. Women often do not get themselves checked for heart attacks as quickly as men do. So next if you feel awful, error on the cautious side and get yourself to the doctor! Thank you dear friend for caring!

Gail, thanks for dropping by, glad to know that you are all fighting fit. FOUR kids! Didn't you know what caused it? I got away with a couple of dogs, they are cheaper to dress and school and can be left longer. Christmas - well us and two other couples take it in turn to host Christmas, last year it was our so we have two free years. We each have a $10 pressie (in the snowman, pic my page, his head comes off and he is hollow inside)and a good feed. All the best.

GAIL, good to see you again! Yes, we keep missing each other on SA. All is well here, Some progress was made on our someday dome house. Al has photos, but forgets to send them to my computer so I can share. Niss Kitty who was sick seems recovered, but still medicating her for several more days. She objects but not to much, knows I am going to win, so swallows her meds for me :)

Glad the daughter driving has brought harmony to your home. Please enjoy your spring the next couple days fo r me, as winter has arrived here. Temp ( low for th eday) at the moment is single diget C, about 1 or 2*C, and will repeat again tomorrow before we get warmer fall weather again. I imagine the rest of the trees will begin to turn now. I brought in hte only plants i try to over winter, helicopter plants. Wish I cold send you a few "babies" to pot up for your verenda!

Gail, my friend! Marching on here, all set for another round of cleaning out Mom's house tomorrow and doing some estate banking with my two siblings--there will be wine with dinner tomorrow night, that's for sure! Stressful, and at times, my patience with my sister's attitude wears thin, but that's all part of it. I wear something of Mom's every day, so that keeps her close, and I have a brief chat, tell her I hope she's doing well, that I miss her. Meanwhile, we've booked a ski trip to Banff, which will be something wonderful to look forward to in December. And we'll be renovating our horrid kitchen next year, so all the preliminary research is keeping me occupied, as is the night class I teach. Hubby continues to be absolutely wonderful! How lucky I am! So, pal-of-mine, have a terrific weekend, and keep me posted on all that's tremendous or otherwise at your end!
