That was great post, Greg.
You know me, I am fine and nothing is going to get me down. Just have more intelligence than I knew I had and it is taking a little longer to rearrange. You know how renovations go, never as planned.

G'day Greg,
Thanks for the warm Canadian welcome. Just checking out your home page. I would like to try your "beavertail" - have no idea what that is, but will try anything once (as long as no actual beavers were killed in the making of...).
Will it go well with a Bundy "Dark and Stormy"? - some of the local produce where I come from!
I was looking forward the the Simon and Garfunkel clip, but can't get it to play for me. There seems to be some very good taste in music around - I was just checking out Gerry Rafferty's 'Baker Street' on Fiona's page.

Oh, Greg, I can't deny you your own big slice of rhubard cream (custard) pie with vanilla bean ice cream. Eat it before the ice cream melts! Thanks for "visiting."

Greg, I know just how much damage a down burst can be. I think ours was considered a micro burst, it only affected about 1 block square. Our house was part of this area. We lost one large oak tree, two sections of back fence that the tree fell on, plus the tops out of two other trees. It could have been worse, the neighbor behind us had a large oak tree land on their roof. They had two large holes in the roof, it was over a month before they could get the roof repaired.

Aw, my Canuk friend, thanks for remembering hubby and me--yes, we like to call this our "fat week," with so much celebrating and "wine tasting". Is it any wonder we've started going to the gym again? Hope all's well with you and those you love!

Hey again, Greg--just got an e-mail from Fiona saying she's down in my neck of the woods and was wondering about meeting. She says you have her e-mail, and if that's so, perhaps you'd like to share so I can contact her?

Thank you for the birthday greetings! I miss you very much. I will attempt to stop in more often to say hello. I saw some of the name in your comments and often wonder what happened to some of them. I hope you are well up there, as I haven't heard much for news. Enjoy the end of summer, take care, I care.

Hi Greg [and my ony "friend"]
I’m sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you but I have been in Adelaide on a Dog Judging Assignment. The other judges were great fun with three from the USA (Maryland), a married couple from New Zealand and a gay couple (male) from Holland. I was the token Australian. The dinners were hilarious and I put on 2 kilos.
Fortunately this week I have been very strict and have lost 1.8k in 4 days.
Anyway thank you so much for your birthday wishes. They were really very much appreciated. After many years of trying I’ve finally convinced the family not to waste money on cards and presents of things I don’t really want and put their money towards a plane ticket to visit the old folks more often.
At my age, I’m just glad to have the birthday without having all the hoo haa as well.
Again thanks for your best wishes.
Regards, David

Hey Greg, thanks for the congrats for the house sale. Considering the 'times' the selling has gone fairly quickly.
From the point of signing the contract to sell with the Real Estate (26 July), and receiving the offer to buy (24 Aug) was 4 weeks, which became unconditional early this week.
Now Hubby and I need to find a Rental for us to live in till the new abode is built.
Our Land, is still being developed, and should be ready end Oct for Titles and Settlement.
Then the Builder can apply for a building licence from the Shire Council, then it will take approx 6 months + to build..
so hopefully by August we are in the new home.

Thanks for your constructive appraisal of my most recent poem.
I was a bit unsure about it at first because it seemed too simplistic for a 'grand theme'. However I had been thinking about it for some weeks, so, when it 'came out', from word one, it was fairly fluent It turned into something of a' nut-shell'.
The time representation may seem unbalanced, but I think that is inevitable because there is a greater commonality over our infancy than over other times. It was not meant to be 'pessimistic' - it was more a poem about reconciliation to life's transiency - and most people (but not all), appeared to realise that. I am formatting it to post in my gallery as it has been well received - so much more positively than I thought it would be.

Once again, Greg, thanks for your positive poem appraisal.
I have posted a reply on my own page underneath your comment there.
By now I have attended to your suggestions in detail and modified my poem. In that I have addressed your criticisms - most of which I fully agree with.
I shall post it in My Gallery just as soon as I have illustrated it

Thanks for your suggestion, and also for your compliment, about my most recent poem [on "Applying the Bible"].
I have been working on a new "Remembrance Day" poem.
I was pleased with last year's effort, which proves to be a difficult act to follow, but I think the one I am working on now may become just as good as that one - after a little more effort.

Thanks, Greg. I like the "live long and prosper" blessing. Perhaps you're enough of a Star Trek geek (as I've been) to have heard Leonard Nimoy's accounts of how his Jewish upbringing influenced the development of the Vulcan culture, most notably the Vulcan salute. Well, the "Vulcan blessing" can be found in Deuteronomy chapter 30 verse 16.

I'm all full of interesting little facts. For instance, I suspect the world's first Polish joke is to be found in Hamlet act IV, scene 4. I noticed it back in high school and delighted my 1st generation Polish-American father with it. He's been a life long collector of Polish jokes.
