Hello Sue - Thank you for your visit. We had a great time in VA. We hope to retire down there. We are a little hesitant because of the economy. We don't want to take a loss with our home.

I live about an hour north of Detroit. We are half way between Pontiac and Flint and about an hour east of Lansing. I live in the country.

Traverse City and Machinac are very pretty places. I am sure you had a great time there. My older daughter and her husband just went up to Traverse City two weeks ago to celebrate their 5th wedding anniversary and they had a great time up there.

I have a lot less hummers now than when we left. I only feed them sugar water. (1 part sugar/4 parts water.) Before I left, I had gone through 15 pounds of sugar. It is always so lonely when they leave in the Fall. Maybe you have a lot of babies this year. By now they should all be eating out of the feeders. They never cease to amaze me.

Well, I just went to the Farmers Market. I wanted to get some fresh produce while it was still available. We are having green beans, corn on the cob and meatloaf for supper.

Thanks, again, for your visit. Please come back and visit again.

Sue,
Go to a nearby store that sells quilt fabrics (not Jo-Ann's) and ask about the hand quilting or ask for information about a guild. Often, the guilds can tell you of someone who does the hand quilting.
I do my own machine quilting. Sometimes I like doing it but those great big ones are too hard to do. For my niece, I quilted a king-sized monster. My arms and shoulders ached! Now I know to be seated higher so my arms go down to do the work.
I was fortunate enough to have a new house built and have my own "studio" as I like to call it. I have all the appropriate furniture for sewing and all at the right height. I do not have a quilting machine--just my Bernina and I!
Good luck finding the right person to do the kind of quilting you like. It is not impossible.

SUE, Thanks for visiting my page and the comment on my quilts. there are many who do not quilt thier own quilts, and I have now joined thier ranks. Arthritis in my hands makes even machine quilting uncomfortable, and reduces the quality also. Nothing to appologize about, having a qult sent out More...

for qulting.

I need to visit chalkboard's quilts again, I cannot remember at the moment what she did. I have more I have not photographed, someday I might get them all done.

I added a close up of the memorial quilt, if you care to go back and see it, had to upload it through flickr, but they will be the last pictures. Hope you can find them.

Hi Sue! Long time no see. I made an unplanned trip to NC to help my daughter take care of her three boys. Her husband's sister in NY dies suddenly at the age of only 47, & he went up there to handle the funeral arrangements, etc. She had no husband & four daughters, the youngest of which is only 12. Wendy had to stay home to work several long night shifts scheduled over the Labor Day weekend. I decided to fly up there & give her some time to sleep! The boys kept me hopping for a week, but it was fun. How are things in OK? How's your knee feeling these days? Please stop over & see me some time!

, Sue. It was great to hear from you again for my birthday. My grandparents lived on the Oklahoma side of the border. I'm still trying to work that trip in, but it is getting really difficult to schedule the time. I had a great birthday weekend and appreciated your greeting; thanks again.

Thank you for the cookies - they made a great breakfast!

We used to camp in OK sometimes - Lake Murray has some good campgrounds and it is close enough for a weekend. But Tenkiller was my dad's favorite. It's a bit of a drive, but I'll get there soon.

And for you, I've brought you some brownies and coffee. Enjoy!

Sue - Thank you so much for your welcoming note, the cookies and your kind words about "my part of the world". But mostly, thank you for the chance to see your wonderful photos (I sneaked a peek at the beautiful butterfly and flower shots on your flickr page). I've just recently got myself a "real" camera and am having enough trouble getting my house to stand still for a shot, let alone convincing multiple butterflies to give me their best profile pose on a petal (sigh!). Congratulations on your talent.

Hi again Sue. Was just looking at your picture gallery - how did you get that shot of the fireworks? They are very hard to photograph! I have added some pics to my flickr page. I am trying to start a "monarch waystation" (see monarchwatch.org) and managed to fatten up several monarch caterpillars this summer on some milkweed. Next year I hope to add more milkweed plants and additionaly butterfly plants. Time to go play with the bunnies and then get to bed.

Gday Sue, I was just doing some spring cleaning around my page and read all your wongerful comments on my pics. Thanks so much, I find them very encouraging. I only 'took up' the camera at the same time as I joined Sudokuland, so am still getting the hang of transferring them to the site. I have heaps more, some of the local birds, wildlife and even more fungi! Will keep in touch and let you know when I finally get a round tuit!

Hi Sue, Thanks for the visit and asking about Sully. His recovery from the back surgery has been slowed down by his diabetes...the back has healed nicely, but other organ dysfunctions have been a real pain....this has made him uncomfortable and understandably grumpy. He may need additional surgery to clear things up but we won't know that for a week or so...and so it goes...we are doing okay however, and keep looking forward. I told him he has to hurry and get well because I'm sick of the kitchen chores...he gets a kick out of this kind of talk..lol. Glad you have been moving about..hope it all is for fun and enjoyment. I had time to check on your most recent pictures...I really like the wind mills..I find them fascinating. Travel safe and visit when you have an opportunity.

Sue, so glad you dropped by for a visit. Judging by the comments, I seem to have missed something. Hospital? I hope you're doing better and that whatever was ailing you is long gone. We're currently in the midst of cleaning out Mom's house, getting it ready to be sold, which is certainly emotional, coupled by the discovery that my brother had removed some funds from my mother's account just before she died to pay for his daughter's flight home for the funeral. Have you ever heard of such a thing? Needless to say, my sister and I are armed for battle against a brother with a hair-trigger temper. I fully expect that once the house is sold I won't be able to say I have a brother anymore... What a terrible schmozzle. Oh, these lives we lead! Thankfully, we're off to Banff in a month for a much needed holiday. Hope you're finding time to capture some fun-filled moments, too. Cheers, Sue, take care and let me know how you're doing.

Hi Sue! Decided to stop by your page instead of sending an e-mail. Glad I did as I did not know you had posted some new pics! Love the pretty flower shots & the ones from St. Louis & Memphis. How are you feeling by now? Hope you are recuperating well. Rob & I are finally alone again after a long string of spending time with friends & relatives throughout Oct. & Nov. It was fun but tiring. Luckily I do not have to cook for Thanksgiving as we are going to daughter's in Orlando. How about you?
