Thanks for the lovely anniversary wishes, Shiela! We have been feted at several dinners so far ... and have reservations for a romantic dinner overlooking a lake once we get up to the cabin! You're a good friend!

Hi, Shiela! Thanks for the good wishes! It sounds like you really have a tough taskmaster of a boss - making you do all that heavy labor! I hope the pain is better today! I know each day tends to get better, so it won't be long before we're all pain-free (I hope)! I hope the end result is worth it! Take care! Hope you're enjoying the start of a new week!

Hi there, Shiela! Nice to be back in the loving embrace of the three cats. They've been very cuddly and clingy, and shoot me nasty looks if I even step outside for a moment to take out the garbage! How are your furry ones doing?

Checked back in on the site late in the day and caught your question, Shiela, so thought I'd just pass my answer along here. We absolutely loved Bruges--it's so supremely picturesque that every time you round the next corner, you fall in love. A friend there recommended a detour to Knokke on the coast, which was like a mini Beverly Hills with a great beach. The little village of Honfleur in the north is another must-see, right before going to do the society jaunt to Deauville. (We got there mid-week and the place was deserted, which was great for walking around and strolling the beach). Rocamadour/Saint Cirq Lapopie and Sarlat in the Dordogne are breathtaking, and we stayed in a renovated horse stable for three days, awakened by the bleating of sheep and lambs every morning. It was so relaxing we hated to leave. In Paris we spent three hours in the Musee D'Orsay, and though it's the second time we've been there, just the sight of all that wonderful Impressionist art brought a lump to my throat. What beauty. It was also very moving when we visited the Canadian war cemeteries in Dieppe and Vimy Ridge (the monument there is awesome). All in all, we give the vacation an A+.

Shiela, thanks for your message. That cat, Romeo, is now a has-been cat and was the most wonderful animal I ever had. Although I have had and will always have other cats (etc.), none will ever equal him.
As far as aqueducts go, Rome is served by the Peschiera and the Marcia aqueducts as well as underground springs (but not my house, I am on the Peschiera aqueduct). Finally, our water supply has been reliable for at least the past 15 years. And the water is very drinkable.
I have never been to Michigan (but passed through Chicago and Detroit), but let me know if you plan to come to Rome. I have a nice guest room and bath - though not central but on a bus line. I love having guests.
Take care...

Howdy, Shiela! Just want you to know I’m going to be in Grand Junction (near South Haven), Michigan from Sunday, September 13 through Wednesday morning, September 16. Would love to get together with as many of you Michiganders as possible while I’m there. Maybe lunch on Monday or Tuesday? I’ll have a car, so we could pick a central location. Let me know what you think! (I’m also sending this to Debby and Plum. Please let me know if I’m missing anyone!) ♥Jane

Hi Shiela! Where are your travels taking you this time? There's nothing quite like the excitement of venturing out to see the world, is there?
Our oldest kitty, Holmes, is at the vet's today, getting x-rayed, blood tests, an enema (!). He's been throwing up, is constipated and dehydrated. Simplest scenario would be a pesky hairball (though he doesn't have much hair anyway); we're hoping it's not the beginning of some kidney problems. I'll know more at the end of the day, and the blood work comes back in the morning. How are your kitties doing?

Hi, Shiela! Thanks for the note. I really enjoyed meeting you, too! And it was a treat to see some of your artwork in person! You are a very talented lady! Wish we all could have spent more time together, but I'm sure there'll be another get together in the future. I had a very enjoyable visit with my sister-in-law and think that we accomplished quite a bit in the short time I was there. Cheers! Jane

Did you enjoy the dancing on the chairs!! I bet it was great fun. You have been to so many wonderful places, such memories for you. The doorway on my photograph is down in Southern Ireland where I stayed during the Summer. I can't think exactly where that shot was now...a beautiful place though...I could live there.

Thanks for my birthday wishes, I had a lovely time celebrating with my family and friends. I'm exhausted now...phew. Take care xx
