Hi Vici,
Thanks for the welcome. Always great to meet another mountain woman/cat lover. Seems like this group has had a lot of fun together.
We live mainly in Parker (40 min SE of Denver) but have a place in Steamboat and are working towards living there permanently (but this recession has not been kind to us,ugh!) My sister moved out near Fort Collins last year - such a great area up there.
I'm originally from the Chicago area and always wanted to get back there..until I fell in love with the mountains. We've spent time in the Tahoe area but I'm hoping to get to Yosemite one of these days.
I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone here. p.s. love the picture of you and shosho, I've got to learn how to post some pictures...usually leave the photo stuff to my honey

As a lifelong Cardinals fan, I beg you to leave them D**n Yankees behind and cheer for Albert Pujols (the greatest baseball player ever) and the mighty Red Birds!

I always make sure to go to at least one Cardinals game in March, when Spring Training is here. I posted a few pics years ago:

Spring Training is different atmosphere than either the MLB regular season, or even Florida League (Class A) games. Like carnival.

I have a Willy Mays story from "Back in the day." Sorta. In 1965 (I think) I went to one of the last games at the OLD OLD Busch Stadium, in its last year, AKA Sportsman's Park.

The Cardinals played the Giants, and due to an accident in overselling Standing Room Only tickets, it was the highest attended game ever at Sportsman's Park. I remember being excited that the great Willy Mays would be on the field that night!

The Cards - always the best in strategy - walked Mays several times. But that night their strategy burned them. Some "unknown" guy, he had placed in the line-up behind Mays to make teams regret walking the big star.

The 'unknown', Willy McCovey, drove in Mays, and was the winning run, when he hit an inside-the-park home run.

But the Dodgers won the 1965 NL pennant, and World Series.

Vici -- I think I missed your birthday, so please accept this rather belated greeting. I have been visiting Sudoku rather sporadically lately. I hope you had a fabulous day and that the rest of the year will be wonderful for you.

Thanks for your Birthday wishes. Mom flew up here for the weekend and we celebrated with a huge 10½" Strawberry Cream Cheese Pie. I have to admit it was one of my best and hope you enjoy a piece with me for breakfast/lunch.

It was 100° both days over the weekend - was suppose to go up to 106° today but is now slated for 95° today. Going to a BBQ tonight & sharing ice cold cherries.

PS check the Sudoku Cookbook for the recipe.

I thank you! Celeste thanks you. Good spots are hard to find. We went camping over the 4th weekend. The kayaking was good, but the swimming was awful. Lake Berressa? Can't spell that one.

Glad you liked the link! I don't have enough zoom for the zumba, but I can do the Teaberry Shuffle. You know, when it comes to music with get-up-and-go, I can't beat Glen Miller. Although Burl had a phone until recently that had a great Caribbean ring tone. I wanted to dance every time I heard it.

Hello Vici - I just left a comment on jigsaws for you and copied it here in case you didn't see it.

Vici - we refer to these as mudlarks, they are of the same family as magpies, I think, but smaller and make an entirely different sound. Nowhere near as friendly, either.

Cheers
Anne

Vici, I think Vibrant Vici is a very apt name for you! I have enjoyed your comments on the site, and especially appreciate your birthday wishes. I'm happy that my photos have brought back fond memories of this area for you. Have a great day there in California; I have fond memories of your area, too, but is has been years since I have visited there.

Hi Vici,
Thanks for dropping by my page.
Seems a while since I dropped by this page..or any other sudoku page for that matter.. I miss everybody here so much..thankfully there is a large group of us in that other place so I can keep in touch there.

I have found this a really strange, difficult and confronting passing in many, many ways. Along with my sense of loss and grief there is a great release from one of the tethers holding me back. There is also an awareness that there are now major adaptations and changes in the close future [re my somewhat complicated personal relationship]. Scary.

I hope I have the strength to deal with that. I had hoped for a little more time to get my head around things and sort out some of my usual issues but it is not to be. I carry my pink quartz ... garner strength from wherever I can.

Was Tom here or in Brunswick when you were here? He is very set in his routines and missing Lucy. Luckily he has Dolly to stop him being lonely while Pete is at work. [photo's on Jessie FB page]
P thinks he must be about 17 now so I think senescence and the ultimate journeys end cannot be too far away for him. He has had a good and interesting life and his devotion has touched a lot of people.. in particular my MIL. It is fitting that his final allegiance should have been to her. He is too infirm to move back here [steps & polished floors are not good].

I waffle on I know. But writing for me is cathartic and a great release. It has overtaken my life and I think it will continue to do so for the unforeseeable future. I have confidence that all will make sense in the end. Even the happenings of the last 12 months which have been the most tumultuous and difficult in my life. One thing I have learnt is that I am a survivor.

Ciao for now...

Hey, with your Oz connection do you know that the race of the year (motor sport) is on this weekend? It is the Bathurst 1000 - 1000km around a road track that has to be seen to be believed. I'll see if I can find you a Youtube!!! I did it!!! The magic 1000 (I hope)!
