Welcome to my page

This is a picture of the Naperville Riverwalk in the fall of 2008 on a early Sunday morning. I love to walk along the Dupage River early morning and even in the Winter. Just up around the bend is a bridge with rapids running underneath it - you can listen to the water - very nice.

I love both your quotations, but that of Chief Dan George is super special. I hope you enjoy the photos of my beloved dogs. As you can see, they are my weak spot--and they know it, too!!! (Very spoiled, but it is fun to spoil them.) Thanks for the lovely welcome!

Hi Mary, thank you for dropping by. I couldn't help myself when you told the tale of your camera lesson, I have done exactly the same myself. I bought a new camera, loaded the film and set off to take some earth-shattering photos. What I didn't know was that the film went around the take-up spool the other way to my old camera, so the first time I advanced the film it actually came off the spool. I ended up taking a whole bunch of beautiful photos on the
one frame.
I'm glad you enjoyed my photos. The ship that had beached in a storm has recently been refloated - a tribute to the skills of the salvage crew.
'Who's on First' was a classic piece of American humour from the best in the trade. I am old enough to say that I used to enjoy Abbott & Costello in my youth.
Thanks for everything. Ian

Hi Mary, it was a rather hot day at Moraine lake, so if it was you in the photo you must have had a lovely time, probably cooler than we were on the edge. I will eventually put more photos of our holiday on my page, my daughter was the photographer.
I am looking forward to getting Callie home, we pick her up in 8 days time.

Hi Mary, thank you for visiting my page. You caught me in the midst of construction; yes, I know I should have started long, long ago, but at least I have started, right? Loved your quotes, but I keep reading comments about photos that I can't see. Are you going to post more photos? I lived in Naperville years ago when I first moved to the Chicago area. I enjoyed my short month there (other than dodging the abundant goose droppings on the sidewalk) until I moved to Crystal Lake. I hope you're building as many good memories there as I hold for the Chicago area. Have a great day.

Hi Mary, thanks for stopping by! Hope the wine was to your taste! The scoop on Chicago's weather is helpful to this boater.
I haven't been to Chicago since 1998 when my son graduated from basic training at Great Lakes. Has the traffic improved?

Hi Mary
Thanks for visiting. Yes, I did enjoy reading Harry Potter. It took me about 24 hours. (not constant!) The next town over had quite the to do. There was a train ride (Hogwarts Erpress)and the merchants on the main street dressed up their store fronts ala Diagon Alley. I didn't go. My children are much too young (5, 4, 3) and needed to be in bed. Have you seen Order of the Phoenix yet?

Hello Mymare - I am just stopping in to say, Hello. My sister lives in Hoffman Estates. Is that any where near you? I know I have seen Naperville, but I can't remember just where. Maybe you are closer to Joliet? We have other relatives in Ottawa, Street and Kankakee. And still more relatives down near McLeansboro at the southern end of Illinois. I have brought you some Michigan Sweet Cherries to munch on. I hope you have a great day!

Hi,

Was surprised to get a bunch of emails. Playing Sudoku can take up a lot of time, especially the tougher puzzles. I love checking out the photos though.

How is the weather in Chicago? Saw on the news you guys have had a bit of rain too. Would you believe yesterday was sunny and not a drop of rain all day. Figures, I had to go to the eye doctor and my eyes were dilated. The one day I wanted it to be really cloudy, it wasn’t.

Have a nice day,
Christina

Good morning, Mary. Thanks for stopping by. Sorry things are such a mess here! I've got unpacking and arranging to do. A few pictures on the wall should spruce things up a bit.

My mom was from Chicago and I spent lots of time there as a child. I loved it but remember the summers as being hot and humid! Hope you get some cooling weather soon!

Mary, I'm so glad you came by my page again. And thanks so much for the lemonade - perfect for a beautiful summer day. I hope it has cooled down a little in your neck of the woods. Our weather has been gorgeous the past couple of days. It is usually fairly warm, but has been in the 70's and 80's with little humidity. The evenings have been downright cool, in fact it feels a little like autumn. The heat is supposed to return tomorrow, however. Oh well, after all, it is summer...

Chess pie is very rich - like a custard or thick pecan pie without the pecans! Very southern and full of sugar.
I've been to Chicago twice and loved it. Have you been to Georgia. It is hot and muggy now, but there is a lot to see. Savannah is 50 miles from here and it is a wonderful city for sightseeing. Have a great day.

It really must be nice to have just turned on your AC. Ours have been on since June and if I had had my way it would have been sooner.

Thanks for stopping by and come again soon. The plan has been for a few weeks to add some new pics of my favorite subject, but alas it has not happened.
bye

Hi Mymare, or Mary (??)
Thanks for stopping by my page. We went to Chicago last summer for a short vacation. The kids were more excited to be in a big hotel than to see the King Tut exhibit, Sears Tower, Art Institute, etc. Columbus OH tries to be a big city but it never will be like Chicago!

Thank you for the Birthday Wishes last week. I had dinner with Mom that evening. She then flew up to Portland, OR for a Class Reunion (68th) and flew back for the wedding on Saturday of her only grand-nephew (my cousin’s son – 41, first marriage). Mom (85) refused to take a nap after getting up at 3 am for the flight back and insisted on driving (through Los Angeles to Orange County) for the wedding – she still drives fast. By the time we got to there we were not speaking & the drive back was even worse – getting home around midnight. The wedding & reception was wonderful (so was the beach party the night before, which Mom had missed). Dad always said the reason we fight, was because we are so much alike – both strong willed women. But, we will always love each other. I left Tuesday, had a meeting in No. Calif. Wednesday afternoon, and decided to camp at Burney Falls State Park – making my dog happy, before returning home. The back is still bothering me – but no violent pains – more of the gnawing variety and when standing up after sitting too long (so there were a lot of stops on the way down and on the way home). Thanks for the good wishes – I’m safe if not sound.

wow, you have quite a list of on-going books, etc. i've taken a break from reading. i'm listening to Our Founding Fathers on tape (ipod, actually) and crocheting little girl sock trims, afgans, trim on baby fleece blankets, and doilies. that's taking all my free time right now. i can do all these while i'm watching rerun movies. it was robin hood, prince of thieves and pride and prejudice this past week. i've probably watched robin hood 214 times. lol

, Mary. Thanks for the visit and birthday greeting. We have had cooler weather, too, and have even had the blessing of rain. The weather was perfect in the mountains for the Backcountry Horsemen dinner and life is good! Next weekend is the annual Storytellers Festival, so I'm looking forward to that. The grandchildren are looking forward to the Bluebell Corn Maze and Pumpkin Festival, when I find time to take them (I hesitate because I tend to get lost in the corn maze - no sense of direction.) The small, rural communities here try hard to provide entertainment for the families. We can always travel to Salt Lake City for more variety if we want to fight the traffic and crowds. I can remember riding the trains to Chicago when I lived in Crystal Lake, but we have no trains here. Too bad. Have a great week!
