Sue, your flowers inspire me so!!!

I grew this beautiful lily (pinks and such) that just bloomed. I've been trying to shoot it, but not getting the good close-ups like you have. I'm going to read more about my camera...I think there is a setting for that kind of shot.
Will keep you posted!

What a wonderful gardener as well as photographer you must be Sue. - a real eye for beauty Thanks for visitin my page. The rock art that you asked about is the traditional Australian Aboriginal xray style. That one is a couple of barramundi - local fish and also a local turtle.... so it is a food painting really - painted on rock with paints made of other rocks. Some go back hundreds and thousands of years - Dont know about this one.

hi Sue, thanks so much for the birthday greetings. much apprieciated.

hope all is well with you and yours. we are still getting settled in the new home. hubby was traveling quite a bit and i would join him whenever. he has taken a job closer to home with limited traveling - just in the surrounding area and will be home nights. hooray for that. we probably wont know what to do together every night! lol.

had bad news about my baby brother (early 50s, but still the baby) - he has pancreatic cancer and is getting his affairs in order....guess i don't have to explain further. we are all in the shocked and saddened state. my mother hardly knows what to do or say. please pray for us. thanks.

hope to chat soon. i'm driving daily to indianapolis to be with him and his wife and girls until he can go home to richmond, IN. so i am not online much these days. thanks for keeping in touch.

Hi Sue!
We are in Thousand Oaks, which is in Ventura County. It is also the first town north of LA county. We actually go to Pt Mugu every day in the summer since my teens do a jr lifeguards program at Port Hueneme. How long ago did you live here?

It was good to hear from you..thans for stopping in... and for the lovely flowers. i left some brownies for you to enjoy.

Hi Sue...is that avatar you used yesterday a Hydrangia (sp?) flower - just lovely!
I live in Grass Valley (about an hour northeast of Sacramento in the Sierra Nevadas...also about 45 minutes from Lake Tahoe)...but my husband and I just moved up here 7 years ago after retiring. We moved up from Monterey. Most people would think that is nuts, since Monterey is so lovely...but my husband grew up there and I spent the previous 25 years there. It had changed a lot and we felt drawn to the mountains. We are loving living in an area that gets snow in the winter...and beautiful seasons, which wasn't the case in Monterey - either fog or sun...but mostly fog!

Hi Sue, for thinking of me. The Doc and I are in the process of gradually ruling out possibilities. I don't get to see him till Wed week, but he would've rung if any of the tests indicated action. So kidneys OK, bowel OK, and probably parathyroid OK. This still leaves some unusual symptoms for which I have four hypotheses ( have a science degree, lol) fibromyalgia, endocrine imbalance, central nervous system malfunction, or plain, ordinary stress. Maybe I'd be better off if I knew less

Anyway,I've been feeling much better since I cancelled some teaching commitments and stopped stressing about my book. So maybe the answer is the stress hypothesis anyway.

Sue,

Thanks for your reply. Would you mind me asking what you were doing in Kitwanga? Were you taking the Cassiar Hwy up to Alaska? I.e., were you driving to Seward (previous day's photo)? If so, Wow!

I've spent a bit of time not far from Kitwanga. For a number of years I was involved in negotiating a land claim for the Nisga'a Nation (just around the corner from Kitw.) and my grandfather for awhile had a silver mine just over the mountains near Alice Arm (which is now a ghost town that even the ghosts have abandonned). It's very beautiful country.

I envy you your trip.

b.r.,

tom

Thanks for your note, Sue! "Hey Judy, It is a purple cacti, that is on my FIL property in CA. He lives out in the high desert near 29 Palms."
I would not have guessed it in a million years! Hot enough in B'ville? 106 here yesterday and the same expected today. No me gusta!

Hi Sue -- I have been meaning to get back to you after the wonderful e-mail you sent me about Spain. Yes, we had a wonderful trip. Three days in Paris and 6 kicking around Normandy. We only visited Mont St. Michele, didn't stay there, although I understand it is wonderful after all the tourists have left to have the place to yourself more or less. Amazing to visit the Normandy beaches too. So much history there - literally thousands of years worth. This was our third trip to France, and so, we'll probably go somewhere else next time, but I love France and could keep going back over and over. Still, there are so many wonderful places to see in the world, so I hope we can get to see some of them. Thanks for stopping by my page again. How's your husband doing? Are you planning any trips?

Hi Sue ~ Well, I just browsed through your photo gallery and I feel like I have just walked through a beautiful botanical garden!! You are an awesome photographer, and you also have quite a green thumb from the looks of your pictures! How many differnt kinds of irises, lillies, etc., do you have? On a side note, you also 'covered' lots of my favorites here - - flowers, birds, mushrooms, squirrels - - thanks for sharing your beautiful pictures with us!
