Hello there Elise, Great surprise to get your message about place names. My post in the forums was so long ago I had given up on it. It still bugs me though when people don't even include their country when signing up. I just think it shows a bit of consideration to let others know what part of the world you hail from.
Apart from that, a very belated welcome to Sudoku. You won't see me post much these days as I have turned into a puzzler and lurker only, but I still check it all out every day. Enjoy!

It's really simple, Elise, Your avitar is really bright, and the only "smilie" I've ever seen upside down. As one scans the page, it grabs your attention. Nothing more, nothing less. As a peace offering I brought you a bouquet of roses....

Hi Viv,
It used to be that a new members name sat there until another new one joined, when that members name would then show. Trouble was that if a few joined within minutes or hours of one another and we members weren't online to see their names there for a fleeting second, they'd be lost in oblivion with no-one welcoming them. This is now much better, if names are going to stay up for at least 24 hours. Cya.

Elise, I'm glad you signed on to the Wordsmith website, it is pretty unique and to read about the founder Anu is interesting as well, he is so fortunate to be making a living doing something that is so obviously enjoys! We should all be so lucky.

Viv, on your 'Update Details' page there is a blank section above the youtube and flickr sections, called 'HomePage Text. At the top of it are all the tools to change fonts, sizes, background colours, type centre etc. Once you are happy with the way it looks, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the 'Update Details' box and wait a tick. once it has all stabilized, go to your page and check it out.

Hi Elise! I stopped by to see your photos & was so impressed! Are all those beautiful plants in your yard?? You seem to have lots of unique varieties, or maybe it's just that your photos show them in such a pretty way. That tea room looks very pretty too - yum! Wish we had more special places & occasions to eat sweets here in the U.S. Have a good day. Cheers!

Hello Elise. On one of my occasional browses through the comments pages, I noted that you are to have an arthroscopy to determine whether you should have a mini knee replacement. I went through that process a few years ago, for much the same reason - knee trouble was limiting my exercise and hence my fitness. The mini replacement has been very successful, but it did require patience through the rehab process. If you're conscientious about doing the exercises, you reap the rewards.

My other knee was more troublesome, so 18 months later I had the full replacement for that one. The mini was so much easier, so I'd recommend doing it sooner, rather than later, if it can mean avoiding the full replacement. Mind you, a few years down the track, both knees are great and it has enabled me to do so much that I couldn't do before.
Good luck!

Elise - how major is your knee surgery (not that there are any minor surgeries!)? When is it?
I am going in Wednesday for a knee replacement - unfortunately, mine is about a three-day stay.
I will be thinking about you - do all your rehab!!

Elise - best of luck with your knee procedure! I know you'll be glad you did it. A good friend of mine ignored her knee problem (refused to have the recommended arthroscopic surgery) and 3 years later had to have a full hip replacement on the opposite side since she'd been favoring her bad knee! Anyway, we're all pulling for you and know you'll come through with flying colors!!!

Elise - I will be thinking about you and your surgery. I hope they are able to arrive at a solution.
I am 57 - very young for a total replacement, but I had the cartilage removed 29 years ago. Then I played softball for 20 years with no cartilage - not smart, but I had a LOT of fun and enjoyment. I just knew that at some time I would need the knee done again.
My doctor is hopeful that with some new innovations for the "younger" patients I will be able to go at least 15 years.
I will try to remember to check with you and to keep you posted on my success.
I am going to be seeing my niece's husband for physical therapy, so I hope that is an extra incentive to really work on recovery.
I have been told great things about how I should feel after it is done.
