Vicki, I read what you said on easy today and I am ever so pleased your son was placed elsewhere.
Yes, the current state of the economy is terribly worrying. We have just gone through a slight nail-biting time. Hubby runs a small business employing a few young people and for a while it looked like hubby and his business partner might have to not pay themselves for a couple of months and/or we might have to lay some of the employees off. Not the reason they started the business in the first place! Where is the help from government?

Hi Victoria. That must have been scary for J and all of you. Once he's qualified though, he'll be laughing. Some tradesmen in my area are making over $2000 a week - more than professionals. Send him here once he's qualified. It'd be easier to find hens' teeth than builders.

Thanks Victoria. We are very happy for him, he has worked hard and has made his own successes. Although his wife refers to him as her 'Newton Nerd', he is about the most normal person I know. We wish him well.

Hello Victoria, just read your comments about the storm how horrible, I hope that you and yours are okay and that the water will subside, god bless and good luck.

Jeez, wish I'd know about your aversion to red wine before our meeting. Oops!

You're too kind Victoria. But if you pass up the $100 a glass stuff, what must you have thought of mine? I know what you mean though. I think I'm the only person in our families who feels the same way about prawns as you do about red wine. Since they all love them, I don't have any. They can be very expensive, so I leave them for those who really enjoy them. Gotta go, big storm coming.

Dear Victoria,

I just want to let you know how much I appreciate your words of kindness. When we lose loved ones, it is good to know that others care.

Hello, Victoria. Thanks for your kind birthday greetings. It was a nice surprise to hear from a number of people, even though my name doesn't appear on the birthday list and I rarely post on the site. The 16x16 takes up too much of my day, I'm afraid. Sudokoholism (????) takes a number of different forms. I hope yesterday's storms didn't create too much havoc for you.

G'day Victoria! I'm slowly catching up on Sudoku after our long trip through Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, & Cambodia. Thanks for leaving a birthday greeting on my page on Dec. 4. I had a wonderful day which began when we watched the sun rise at Angkor Wat in Cambodia - unforgettable! I have posted only one picture of our trip on my page so far, but I will try to whittle down the thousands of pictures we took to just our favorites & post them on Flickr as soon as I can find time. Meanwhile, Rob & I would like to wish you & your family a very Merry Christmas & Happy New Year. I think you may be away on holidays right now, but at least when you get back & read this you will know I was thinking of you, as you were when Rob & I were away. Will look for your return in 2009!

Victoria, we were in much the same situation with Mum. She lived in Adelaide and most of us live interstate. My brother is the only one of us still living in Adelaide and he was always on at them to move closer...of course, what he has no concept of is that everything in Adelaide is only twenty minutes away, so it really wasn't too much of a chore.
We were very lucky with Mum, she took ill just before New Years so we all took to the air and our cars to be there for her and my father. Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse and she passed away with her four eldest daughters by her side. You can't ask for better than that.
She knew she was loved till her last second and she will forever be in our hearts.
All the best wishes to your brother on his continued recovery and his colonoscopy cause, a good one for sure.

Hi Vicki - thank you for your concern about my health. Fortunately for me it was asthma followed by a very nasty head cold (in summer?) so compared to other people's troubles I was in no danger. Pleased to hear your colonoscopy went well and that your brother is recovering.
Thank you also for your birthday wishes from last week, much appreciated. I had a lovely couple of days combining my birthday with Andrew's. In fact I have had a wonderful month or more since my son decided to grow up and rejoin the family. It has been great.
If I remember correctly you have family staying with you at the moment - hope all is going well.
I know you have a birthday coming up, I remember sharing a yummy cake with you and Susan last year. Will send you greetings on the day.
